SLPP brouhaha hits up
...Chairman and Secretary General kicked out

The opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) has entered into a new round of difficulties as over the weekend, a cross section of party stalwarts kicked Chairman Somano Kapen and Secretary General Suliaman Banja Tejan-Sie out of their respective substantive posts.

Reasons given for the surprised decision are not too convincing, especially so when they have to do with under-performance.

According to grassroots members of the party, the two top executive members of the party have failed to take the party anywhere forward since their election and that keeping them in office will take the party further down and spoil its chances of matching to State House come the 2018 general elections.

Dr. Prince Harding, the elected Deputy Chairman of the party has been named the Acting National Chairman. He shall hold the post until the next national delegates conference of the party.

The decision, in my view, is an unfortunate one because rather than solving the problems afflicting the crumbling party, it will only worsen things.
